Die Grenze / De Grens is project on an area where the western border of Germany meats the eastern border of the Netherlands. This project is still in progress, it was exhibited at the 48-Stunden-Neukolln festival in Berlin.

FC Twente-NAC was op de televisie niet te volgen. Wel konden de supporters de wedstrijd volgen op grote schermen op het van Heekplein en in de Grolsch Veste te Enschede. TV Oost gaf een verslag door middel van live beelden van supporters die op het plein en in het stadion de wedstrijd volgden. Opvallend was het grote aantal vrouwelijke fans. Ik fotografeerde ze op de televisie.

Project 1497#1: Hotton is een onderzoek naar hoe we als beeldmaker een waarneming van een omgeving kunnen vormgeven. Door middel van een serie korte filmobservaties hebben we de spanning opgezocht tussen voyeurisme, observatie en confrontatie.
We hebben twee keer een aantal uren gefilmd. De uiteindelijke film bestaat uit een selectie uit negentig korte observaties. De selectie is geplaatst in een splitscreen om de individuele observaties minder belangrijk te maken. De vreemde combinaties die ontstaan tussen de beelden en het geluid, versterken de absurditeit in het vastleggen van de plek.
We hebben er voor gekozen om ons, soms schaamteloze, commentaar op situaties niet weg te laten, maar juist een rol te laten spelen in de film. Op deze manier maken wij als maker een onderdeel uit van de gemeenschap.

The Cross is a project about young boys (4-14) motorcrossing. I visited the cross on sundays, while they where training for competitions all over the country. I photographed them before and after the training while there where totally focussed on their bikes and after; tired and sometimes disappointed. These pictures where exhibited during my graduation show in june 2007.
Bovenkamers / Upstairs 2007

When I visited my aunt i found out she wasn’t using the the first floor of the house, because she was physically enabled to walk the stairs. Her bed moved to the ground level of the house and the first and second floor where left abandoned. I started my research and people told me about their aunts, grandfathers, mothers and neighbors who couldn’t walk the stairs anymore and never visited the upstairs rooms. So I wandered around these rooms and found an opportunity to make a portrait of these peoples lives and history and also telling a story about their present lives.
‘Bovenkamers’ is the Dutch translation for ‘Upstairs’. In this project ‘Bovenkamers’ also refers to the head or the mental state of the people who live(d) in these houses.

Project about a family i visited a couple of times in 2006. They were categorized as a ‘multi problem family’. With seven daughters and one babyboy a big family with little money to spend. This is just a small selection of the hundreds of pictures I took of them.
